Our family travel series continues with Valley-based boy mom and lifestyle contributor Nadine Bubeck (Mama B.). Every month, Nadine showcases a fabulous destination- providing five things about visiting the hot spot.
Salud! We’re heading to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! Gift your familia a slice of paradise via a fast flight from Phoenix.
Where to stay:
Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is an all-inclusive resort blissfully secluded on a private coastal bluff.
The ultra-secure gated property is lined with a lush, luxurious landscape and equipped with pools, a kid’s club, restaurants, a private beach and accommodations that will wow you.
The Executive Ocean View Suite is perfect for families- over 1,000 square feet of living space, a kitchen, sofa sleeper and private bedroom. Oh, and some come with an oversized balcony AND hot tub.
BTW- golf carts take you everywhere!
Where to play
First: the pools. Have littles? Reserve the lounge chairs lining the kid’s wading area- it’s a lovely shallow pool. And if you get thirsty, take a swim to the in-pool bar and order your kiddos a virgin daiquiri.
Next: Cabo ocean water is rough so many resorts don’t let you swim, but you can still play on the beach! Stock up on sand toys and chill on an oversized Pueblo Bonito beach bed (with beachside food/drink service).
At night: The Fun Lab. Open 3pm-10pm daily, this glorified game room will tire the kids… and you’ll love it, too! There’s Play Station, arcades, air hockey, and a full-size cinema constantly playing family flicks.
Crave an outing? Take the free shuttle to the resort’s sister property located in the heart of downtown. There, use your all-inclusive perks to eat, drink, swim, and hang on the beach. Enjoy a water taxi around Cabo’s iconic rock formation, or venture via parasailing.
Finally, wanna meet Flipper? Do a dolphin encounter! Cabo Adventures offers a fun and informative program that’s educational and bucket-list worthy. Even my four-year old went on a ride of a lifetime via a dorsal ride!
Where to feast:
The best part of an all-inclusive is it’s all inclusive.
Pueblo Bonito has an awesome “Market”- a luxurious twist on cafeteria style offerings. There’s sushi, Italian, a diner, smoothie bar and more… it’s delish. (And remember, room service is “free,” too!)
Next, utilize the resort’s babysitting services for date night. The property’s signature restaurant, LaFrida, flaunts the most romantic view and is aAAA Four Diamond eatery for excellence. A $30 surcharge applies.
What to bring:
Are you an over-packer? Yep, join the club. But please, don’t do it! You’ll live in a bathing suit, cover up and flip flops! Bring something fun for dinner and family photo-opps… also a light zippy for chilly nights.
Here’s something you might not consider… bust out that holiday card photoshoot in paradise! Check out Instagram or review sites to find a professional shooter and get some pics on the beach. Sunset is ideal to capture that money shot.
