Our family travel series continues with Valley-based boy mom and lifestyle contributor Nadine Bubeck (aka Mama B.). Every month, Nadine showcases a fabulous destination- providing five reasons to visit the hot spot.
This month, we’re venturing to Huntington Beach, California, a beachy hub perfect for hanging ten.
Where to stay:
Rarely do I have a completely flawless experience, but I’m excited to report the Pasea Hotel captivates everything you could want in a beachfront property. Located across from the ocean, the boutique resort flaunts airy décor rich with blue hues complimenting the oceanic element. The luxe lobby overlooks the heated pool, wading pad, hot tub and cabanas- all with picturesque views. Accommodations are plush and comfortable; I highly recommend the spacious king studio (with a couch bed to sleep little travelers). But the best part: the balcony, which gives you a front row spot of the sunset- probably the best view you’ll ever witness.
In-property amenities include: a spa (we’ll get to that later), bike rentals, beach toys, an on-site eatery and more. More so, the hotel sits among Huntington’s premiere shopping destination: Pacific City, so you’re steps away from food, drinks and goodies galore.
Where to play:
No need to plan every minute of your day; wake up, grab a bite, and walk the beachside path- breathing in the fresh ocean air. In fact, if you follow the path under the pier and round the bend, you’ll find a lovely playground!
The obvious HB “must do” is hanging at the beach, but if you wake to a windy day, there’s still plenty to do.
Definitely walk the pier and indulge in a sundae at the very end (at the Ruby’s Diner). You can rent surreys or stroll the town; it’s adorable. Fittingly dubbed Surf City USA; you’ll be mesmerized by the surfers. Finally, make the most of your night utilizing free, public bonfire rings for s’mores.
If you want to surprise the kiddos, Knotts Berry Farm is a mere 25 minutes away; there’s a great Snoopy area featuring little rides and plenty of coasters for big kids.
However, some vacays are best spent chilling, so if you have time to escape the fam, gift yourself Pasea Hotel’s“But First, Love Yourself” package. The bundle includes a soothing meditative massage at its Balinese-inspired spa Aarna where guests are guided through mindfulness exercises. The spa amenities are lovely- enjoy the eucalyptus steam room and experience a shower showcasing nearly ten shower heads.
Where to feast:
Duke’s is a local hot spot sitting right on the beach. Make a reservation and score a window seat overlooking the sandy epitome of Orange County. The food is fresh and delish- amazing seafood- but the grand finale is the restaurant’s staple dessert: Hula Pie, consisting of a cookie crust, macadamia ice cream, hot fudge and more.
What to bring:
Scooters for the kids, bathing suits, and warm clothes. Nights can get chilly!
Shop Pasea’s unique hotel specials, like a package that includes a two-hour photo shoot.
