Take the Party Outside

By: Jennifer Solomon

Summer is here. The warm summer sun and mild breezes means it’s time to take the party outdoors for some poolside entertaining. We’ve got you covered with some fun backyard games, food tips to keep the bugs away, and easy summer recipes the kids will enjoy.

Giant Jenga
How fun does this giant Jenga set look? This is a giant version of one of America’s favorite party games. The Tower starts out at 2.5 ft tall and can grow to over 5 ft during games. You can either purchase the giant toppling tower or make one of your own. All you have to do is buy some 2x4s at your local hardware or lumber store, and have them cut them to the size you want.  Sand down the edges so they are smooth. You can even paint the blocks fun colors.

Balloon Dart Board
Try bringing your dart game outside with this fun balloon version! All you need is a large piece of cardboard, some balloons, and some tape to secure the balloons to the board. Then, if you already have darts, use those, and if not you can usually find some in toy sections at the dollar store that might be safer for kids to use.

Ping Pong
Ping pong in the pool is the way to get your summer game on. Perfect for adults and kids, this floating ping pong game includes a floating board, net, two paddles, and two balls.

Food Tips

When your party is outside, bugs believe they have an open invitation. Here are some tips on keeping those pesky bugs out of your food and beverages.

Put your salads in large glass jars with lids.

Protect your drinks from bugs using a cupcake holder.
