Looking for some great Louisiana style cooking, right here in the valley? Look no further than VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen.
Locally owned and operated, VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen is a Cajun, creole and Caribbean restaurant in Tempe. My husband and I recently got the pleasure of checking out this fairly new hot spot and it was a wonderful experience.
The menu includes dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice and po’boys. There are also custom blended ice teas, porch wines and craft beers available. They also have a large patio and frequent Jazz Nights perfect for a cool autumn evening.
We each tried a different main dish. I enjoyed the Pan Roast and it was amazing! Flavorful and delicious in every bite. My enjoyed the Shrimp Po’boy and it did not disappoint! Such a great serving of seafood and wonderful bread- in every bite.
There is also a kids menu for those looking to stop in with their whole family for a great meal and maybe even some entertainment.
The owner of VooDoo Daddy’s is no stranger to restaurants. In the mid 2000’s he developed the Tilted Kilt concepts, which at one point was more than 100 restaurants throughout the U.S. However, after having sold off Tilted Kilt, his focus is now on this family owned operation.
The restaurant is walk-up ordering style. There is plenty of seating available inside and outdoors on their patio. Outside of the great options we ordered, there are a number of classic Cajun style items on the menu including jambalaya, gumbo, along with red beans and rice, po’boys and more! There really is something for everyone.
Our meal wouldn’t have been complete without tasting their amazing beignet ‘s! Do not leave this spot without trying them!
VooDoo Daddy’s is located at 1325 W. Elliot Rd., Suite 106 in Tempe, Ariz.
