Phoenix Krav Maga and Fitness, located at 41780 W. Opportunity Way in Anthem, offers exactly that.
Krav Maga (pronounced “krahv mahGAH”) “is an Israeli Martial arts system which focuses on real life self-defense,” explains owner Matt Numrich. While many of the martial arts focus on combat fighting techniques, the goal of Krav Maga is to neutralize a threat as quickly as possible BEFORE a fight breaks out, teaching you how to use everything at your disposal to defend yourself with brutal efficiency, all the while remaining calm under pressure.
A full-time martial arts instructor for over 21 years, Numrich himself teaches Krav Maga self-defense training to both men and women of all ages and abilities, using a fitness format designed to help people lose weight, gain strength and build confidence in an environment that is both fun and engaging.
A typical 45-minute class at Phoenix Krav Maga and Fitness incorporates cardio-based training with skills aimed at targeting an attacker’s vulnerable soft tissue and pressure points, using techniques such as:
- Choke/grab defenses
- Defense against weapons and multiple attacker
Classes range from beginners (Level 1) to more advanced (Level 2) as well as youth anti-bullying classes for ages 6-12. No matter your age or ability, however, Numrich promises that Krav Maga has something to offer everyone.
“One of the greatest things we love about our classes is we have students from all ages, backgrounds, experience levels (including none) and fitness levels,” he shared.
So strong is Numrich’s belief in the teachings and benefits of Krav Maga, that he offers, not one, but TWO free classes (at no obligation) to anyone wanting to try it out. For those of you who may be considering it, Numrich offers these words of encouragement: “Get ready for results of confidence, fitness and stress relief – all while having a blast!”
