This month, the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA released its third annual Models! Mutts! Meow! calendar filled with page after page of gorgeous (and mostly shirtless) male models and even more charming, adoptable pets.
One hundred percent of the calendar sales will be used exclusively to help AAWL provide healthcare, food, shelter and medical treatments to more than 4,000 homeless animals over the next year. Animals truly are man’s best friend, and the theme of this year’s calendar proves that. The monthly spreads feature photos that explore the human-animal bond in a cute and whimsical way.
“This is about more than the calendar’s two- and four-legged eye candy, of course,” said Judith Gardner, executive director of AAWL. “Thanks to the models and photographer who donated their time and the businesses that provided equipment and space, we are able to afford healthcare, shelter and food to thousands of homeless animals.”
From start to finish, the calendar is put together by volunteers and donations. Photographer Eric Cassée — who has shot for Starbucks, Harvest Snaps and Midfirst Bank — donated his time for the third year in a row. Every model from The Agency Arizona volunteered his time for the shoot, and Blok Studios offered its space, filled with loaned equipment from Tempe Camera, for three days without charge.
For more information and where to place an order for the calendar, visit aawl.org. The calendar costs $15 plus $5 for shipping and handling. Orders will begin shipping in mid-November. Those who don’t want to wait for calendars to ship can pick up a copy in-person at AAWL’s Annual Walk to Save Animals on Nov. 4 at Tempe Beach Park. More information about the fundraising event is available at walktosaveanimals.org.
