Every year, North Phoenix Family Magazine holds the most adorable contest and every year, choosing the winner is the absolute hardest. That’s because every child submitted is always so incredibly cute and deserving.
This time around, our team was struck by two little boys and their dog: big brother Jackson, a rambunctious five-year-old with a smile that just melts you, mischievous 4-year-old, Lincoln the red-headed jokester and their honorary brother, Rugby the golden doodle.
Parents, Amber and Andy St. John were high school sweethearts from Wyoming and have been married seven years. They have lived in Arizona for 16 years now and their family is their world.
“We are two working parents with busy schedules and are doing our best to give them a humble and happy life,” said Amber. “I am forever grateful to be their mother.”
Only in kindergarten, Jackson is very inquisitive and emotionally intelligent. He strives to understand the world around him and is always asking questions.
“He recently asked us about the local elections and wondered if the candidates with the most signs on the street are the winners,” Amber shared.
He also has a very big heart for such a little boy. He always helps other kids at his school and is very caring. He enjoys drawing pictures, playing sports, telling jokes from his joke book and making people laugh. He recently joined a soccer league and is part of a lego club in an after school program.
“He is our social butterfly,” Mom shared.
Little brother, Lincoln is the comedian of the house and is always making everyone smile. Like his brother, he has a soft spot for helping others, including his teacher in preschool.
“Lincoln is our left-handed ginger. He makes Dad proud with his left-handed baseball windup and follow through,” Amber said.
Lincoln also loves sports, including baseball, soccer and basketball. His favorite toys are cars, trucks and his scooter. He is very independent and content playing by himself. He does enjoy playing with his brother, but as siblings do, it is an on and off again playful relationship.
“The boys play well together but also enjoy their alone time,” Amber said. “When they’ve been apart for a while, it’s so sweet to see how excited they get to see each other again.”
The family enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends and being outdoors. The boys love camping, fishing and hunting and are always encouraged to play outside to burn off their energy.
“Balance between our careers and family is very important to us,” Amber said. “Being parents has allowed us to relive our childhood and treasure their innocence. We love watching our boys learn, grow and enjoy life. We can only pray that our children feel safe, have confidence in themselves and treat others with love and respect.”
