One of the joys of summer – no matter where you live – is loading up the family for a weekend camping adventure. And while it may soon be too cold to pitch your tent in the woods, the joys of camping can be experienced year-round at Camp Social, the first one-of-kind Phoenix restaurant concept from Glass Half Full Restaurant Group.
Located at 6107 N. 7th St. in Phoenix, Camp Social offers patrons a unique dining experience in a camping-inspired atmosphere. Upon entering the dining area, guests are greeted by wooden canoe chandeliers and tables adorned with red camping lanterns. A custom retro-fitted camper serves as the hostess stand and DJ booth, while a second camper is available for private dining. Additional patio seating is available outside on the back porch, where strings of light illuminate the night.
Adult patrons can enjoy a variety of camp-inspired cocktails from tire swings – in lieu bar stools – that hang from the top of the main bar. Kids young and old will find plenty of ways to keep occupied with ping pong, shuffleboard, skee-ball and giant Jenga among other available activities in the authentic ‘log cabin’ game room.
“Camp Social is a ‘summer camp for adults’ that brings an entirely new concept to the valley, combining the nostalgia of camping and childhood sleep-away camps,” shared General Manager, Anthony Georgoulis. “The environment encompasses the fun, laid-back, relaxation and the whimsy of camping.”
The camp-style menu offers something for everyone, from chargrilled burgers and sandwiches to wood-grilled trout and fresh salads. Signature dishes include fire-cooked Hobo Stew and themed national park-inspired pizzas – like the Everglade, topped with alligator sausage, and the Cape Cod with smoked clams. And yes – gluten-free crust is available.
Of course, no campout would be complete without Camp Social’s signature s’mores featuring homemade graham crackers and marshmallows that guests roast themselves.
“Customers love the food because it’s unique, but it’s more than that,” said Georgoulis. “The camp scene at Camp Social really resonates with people. The feel of the room is awesome, and customers love the young, high-energy staff.”
Camp Social recently launched their brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with American breakfast favorites as well as out-of-the-box camp-inspired dishes like Campfire Berry Pancakes, the Doughnut Breakfast Sandwich, Crispy Pulled Pork Scramble and Sangria’s Breakfast Pizza. Bottomless mimosas and camp-style Bloody Mary’s round out the feast.
